A classic all-in confrontation, Q-Q vs. A-K occurred between Dominik Nitsche and Jeff Gross on the $1,000 WSOP NLHE Final Table. Short stack Jeff Gross was famously roommates with Micael Phelps, who made the trip out today with Phil Laak and Antonio Esfandiari to cheer on their friend. As he watched a runout unfavorable to Gross’ A-K, Antonio Esfandiari vocally shouted for an ace to fall on the river, while commenting under his breath that he was very good friends with both Nitsche and Gross, so it was difficult for him to really root for either. That’s poker––friends win, friends fall, and ultimately everyone but the bracelet winner falls by the wayside.
Laak consoles the fallen Gross, while Zachary Gruneberg grinds on.
